Paros Island is a small little gem of a Greek Island. Quiet and very peaceful with a couple of very sweet little harbours. I arrived by boat into Parikia, a very clean and tidy village with a few lovely back streets full of shops. Some of the shops selling Greek Souvenirs and some selling designer clothes.

A very laid back attitude where you are not coerced into buying, where the Greeks are happy just to meet you! I found the internet cafes extremely helpful and in no rush for you to leave. Making a delicious cup of coffee at inexpensive prices. I decided to go exploring the minute I arrived and went straight for the small village of Naoussa and am so pleased I did. I located a rent room on the top of the small hill, it was rented from a lovely Greek lady who owned a supermarket in town.

Her son escorted me up, carrying my little suitcase, to show me the room. At a very inexpensive 20 euros per night, the apartment was the most amazing apartment I have ever stayed in, in Greece! I was so pleased with it and the Greek lady’s hospitality that I stayed for 3 weeks! Each day I toured the island on my little rented scooter and on my return I found Greek sweets, Greek cakes and Greek cheeses with typical Greek dried biscuits in my room waiting my return!

The lovely Greek lady used to call me her angel! Wow impressive Island. I found the same sort of kindness and welcome wherever I toured the island. Paros Island is a Greek island I highly recommend.

Please bear in mind that if you hire a car and take it off road, that the underneath may not be insured if you damage it on rocks or a rough road! A bike is a good idea to hire and if you decide to hire a bike on Paros, please insist on a helmet and go very carefully as off road is obviously dangerous and the roads can get slippy in the heat.

I was amazed at how well kept a small Greek Island could be when I stayed in Naoussa and Parikia. For those of you that feel the cold, a cardy is required in the evenings on Paros when the cool breeze begins. On Crete take a small fan to cool you down!

Although you have waited all winter to obtain your holiday tan, the wise one’s among you will use a higher factor sun cream during the extremely hot days, this will not make you tan less, it will actually make you tan more and avoid 3-4 days of not being able to sit in the sun at all!

Mykonos is well know as the Gay Greek Island and Mykonos attracts gay holiday makers from around the world.

This makes Mykonos Island very attractive to everyone as it offers an extremely chilled out holiday island. Mykonos island has not yet been spoilt and offers a quieter holiday than you may expect. This once poor Greek Island of Mykonos now boasts some very up market designer shops with prices to match. There are plenty of apartments and studios on Mykonos to choose from and no high rise apartments to spoil the charm of the island and shopping is still Greek village style.

Mykonos Island dosn’t have many gay bars and again proves an island to relax on as you won’t find all night rave parties going on there! Although saying that there are open air bars and clubs on Mykonos that stay busy enough with party makers willing to party all night long! The narrow donkey streets are ablaze with colour, flowers are immaculately tended and are everywhere. There is a beautiful church at the harbour of Mykonos with a beautiful blue dome.

The beaches of Mykonos Island are divided by obvious sections: for those who prefer to remain clad, go totally naked or are gay. The beaches are served by both buses and oftentimes by boat to the more inaccessible beaches. Naxos Island is a huge Greek Island with almost deserted very sandy beaches.

When I arrived on Naxos, I headed down the coast on a hired scooter.

The roads were superb, unusual for Greek roads! The roads also appeared to be devoid of other tourists! I ended up stopping at Aghios Anna (Saint Anna). I stopped the bike in front of a lovely long yet small beach and immediately Greek ladies gestured to me that they had the best rent room at the best price for rent! I nodded my head at them in acknowledgement and carried on looking at the lovely peaceful beach.

Finally when most of the ladies had given up trying to get me to rent their rooms, I looked around at the rooms 4 rent signs. I entered one nice looking small apartment block and a very friendly Greek family all came to welcome me. 20 euros per night.Please note that the current prices range from 50-70 euros per night per room as prices have risen sharply in Greece for that cheap island hopping holiday.

How much it will cost to rent a room on one of the Greek Islands in 2011 is unknown, but said to be from 70 euros per night

They showed me the room, typically basic Greek village rent room, very clean and with a small balcony with a kafeneon type table and two chairs and superb view of the beach as it was on the beach road. I only stayed there 3 nights, but the Greek family made me very welcome without intrusion.

Touring Naxos I found it to be huge and I hadn’t allowed enough time to see it all, but the west coast beaches were sandy and almost deserted. The sea was rough so I couldn’t tell how clean it was as the sand was permanently being thrown around, there were rocks in the shallows so I was concerned about sea urchins and didn’t tempt a swim! Chicken eh! Naxos I would say has the best beaches I have ever found in Greece! Both because of the size, you can find an almost solitary spot and not be on top of other tourists and of course the real sand!

Naxos Island is a Greek island I highly recommend for those of you seeking sandy beaches and your own space on the beach.

The houses cling to the sides of the sheer drop caused by the volcano erupting causing the centre of the island to disappear into the sea and has been blamed for the demise of the Minoan society on Crete, south of Santorini Island Greece.

When I passed through Santorini for the first time it was an awsome experience for me.

Yearning to go to Santorini Island for years, finally I was there.

A strange feeling came over me as the boat approached the island almost like I felt an echo or was passing through time. Santorini’s aura is as awsome as the view you will see as you approach the Greek Island of Santorini.

My only regret is that I had not allowed enough time to fully explore this beautiful and so unusual Greek Island. I am planning on returning to Santorini soon in the future.

Santorini is well know as the Greek Island who’s volcano erupted around 1500bc. Before the eruption Santorini was a circular island when the volcano erupted it took with it the centre of the island and now you see a semi circular island with a few rocks still poking out of the sea here and there.

The volcanic eruption was on a huge scale and is blamed for the demise of the Minoan civilisation on Crete. Lady Crete myths & stories The island of Crete is south of Santorini and was apparently hit by a huge wall of water and probably the fall out of the volcano itself. If you visit north Crete, you can see evidence of volcanic ash and rock around the north coast of Crete.
